USA: Pork market review for week 33 from August 19, 2024

“Pigs are fluctuating a lot,” said Darin Fessler, a trader at Lakefront Futures. -“It will be very difficult for pigs to be strong without strong cows. Will consumers also give up pork and switch to chicken?”

And although inflation has fallen, consumers are resisting high prices by hunting for bargains, cutting back on purchases and switching to cheaper substitutes.

“In general, the ability to go to restaurants has decreased. People are becoming more careful about what they spend their money on,” Fessler said. “This rollback is what’s really worrying.”
