USA: Week 24 Pig Market Review 2023

CoT's weekly report showed that hog traders covered short positions during the week ending June 13th. This reduced their net short position to 4630 contracts from 16k last week and 31k two weeks earlier.

Pork futures closed mostly higher on Friday, although December contracts fell 37 cents. The value of a pork carcass settled at $92.33 on Friday, according to the USDA , after rebounding $1.44. The USDA has estimated the weekly slaughter of 2.33 million pigs through Saturday. This is down from 2,358 last week and down 33,000 heads from the same week last year.
