USA: Pork market review for week 13 from April 01, 2024

NASS's quarterly report as of March 1 showed the pig population at 74.751 million, up 0.6% year-on-year. The USDA reported the breeding stock at 6.02 million HEAD.  

The USDA reported that 55,300 tons of pork were sold in the week ending March 21. This was a new annual high and the highest since December 15, 2022, helped by sales to Vietnam and Italy. The volume of supplies amounted to 34.2 thousand tons, and the annual volume of supplies amounted to 390 thousand tons. This is 9.4% higher than last year's figure.
