US Hog Market Review Week 12, March 24, 2025

The USDA National Average Basic Contract Price for pork was posted at $88.40 Friday afternoon, down 99 cents from the day before. The CME Lean Hog ​​Index was down 21 cents from the previous day to $89.20 on March 19.

USDA Friday morning FOB pork tenderloin rose $1 to $96.86 per hundredweight. The only grades that declined were brisket and picnic. USDA estimated federally inspected hog slaughter this week was 2.428 million HEAD. That's down 81,000 from last week and 92,684 head from the same week last year due to a midweek snowstorm and transportation slowdowns.
