
Average broiler prices in the US market as of February 4, 2022 remained negative. Over the week, the price tag fell by 0.8%, while the decline in sales continues - by 3% over the week.
The average cost of broilers in January 2022 was 131.39 cents/lb (+5.6% MoM, +59.7% YoY), with total sales of around 40,755 thousand pounds (-20% MoM, + 6.6% per year).
At the same time , the USDA reports that stocks of chicken MEAT continue to decline, especially stocks of chicken breast. Shipments of whole broilers to cold storage were 12.2 million pounds, 15.5% lower than a year ago and 23.6% lower than the five-year average. Stocks of boneless chicken breasts were 152.6 million pounds, 41% lower than a year ago and 27% lower than the five-year average.
