
Average broiler prices in the US market as of September 10, 2021 showed a positive trend. The average cost of broilers in August 2021 was 104.8 cents/lb (-0.7% m/m, +58.6% y/y), with total sales of about 44,495 thousand pounds (+5.5% m/m) , +27% per year).
In the regional markets, prices for poultry of all categories increased.
Broiler exports fell 8.2% month-on-month to 596.0 million pounds in July, but were up 1.5% year-on-year. On average, about a third of broiler exports go to Mexico, which bought 66.0 million pounds in July (up 15.6%), and in the first seven months of the year, shipments reached 28.0% compared to the same period last year. Exports of broilers from the beginning of the year to date to Angola, CANADA and the Caribbean increased by 51.0%, 5.9% and 66.4% respectively. Turkey exports in July were 46.5 million pounds, down 1.5% from last year. Turkey exports year-to-date are up 2.6% year-over-year, driven by an 8.9% increase in shipments to Mexico in the first seven months of 2021.
