
Average broiler prices in the US market as of August 20, 2021 showed a mixed trend. The average cost of broilers in July 2021 was 105.55 cents/lb (-0.8% mom), with total sales of around 42,169 thousand pounds (-14.2% mom).
In regional markets, prices for poultry in all categories fell, with the exception of prices for birds weighing 2.51 to 3.50 pounds, which rose 0.23 cents.
Poultry MEAT exports accounted for 12% of production in the first half of 2021. The largest destination for U.S. poultry meat was Mexico, which accounted for 22% of exports.
The forecast for broiler production has been revised down based on the latest data. Broiler EXPORT forecasts from the third quarter are unchanged from last month. Broiler price forecasts for the remainder of 2021 have been adjusted to reflect the latest price trends.
Table egg production is expected to be 8,067 million dozen in 2021, slightly up year-over-year due to a smaller but more productive layer flock. Third-quarter average price guidance for wholesale Class A eggs in New York is raised to 109 cents a dozen, based on early seasonal growth in domestic demand.
The forecast for turkey meat production is slightly lowered in the third quarter; turkey export forecasts have also been adjusted downwards in the second half of 2021. Turkey prices have been adjusted for the remainder of 2021 to reflect the latest price trends.
