USA: Week 30 Broiler Market Review 2023

Average prices for chicken cuts showed multidirectional dynamics, with a noticeable drop in prices for MMO minced MEAT and chicken legs.

The US poultry market is being pressured by the fact that bans on poultry shipments from the US to outside countries remain in place despite the cessation of avian influenza. Protracted bans continue to hold back the market. U.S. poultry producers say they are facing prolonged economic hardship due to bird flu, despite flocks not being infected for months, as CHINA and some smaller importers failed to lift trade bans imposed during the country's worst virus outbreak. reports REUTERS .

Protracted bans imposed last year to prevent the spread of the disease are capping the $6 billion US poultry EXPORT market as producers also grapple with labor shortages, lower chicken prices and uncertain feed prices.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), China, South Africa and the Dominican Republic maintain a ban on the import of poultry from 37 states that have previously reported infections.
