Average broiler price in December 2021 was 124.39c/lb (+17.9% MoM, +50.8% YoY), with total sales of around 51,025k pounds (+16.1% MoM) , +15.1% per year).

In the United States , more and more cases of avian influenza are being detected in wild birds. On Friday, the USDA reported the country's first case of the Eurasian H5 virus since 2016, and on Tuesday said all three cases were H5N1, raising the risk of potential poultry infection. This strain has caused a wave of bird flu outbreaks in poultry in Europe and Asia.

The latest U.S. cases have been in Colleton County, South Carolina, where the infection was found in a wild duck, and Hyde County, North Carolina, according to the USDA.

The USDA has advised poultry producers to review safety measures to ensure the HEALTH of their flocks and has said people should wear gloves when handling wild birds.
