USA: Broiler market overview for the 19th week of 2022

Average broiler prices in the US market continue to moderately increase. Over the week, the price tag rose by 0.5%, sales volumes added 6.1% over the week.

Funding for the fight against highly pathogenic avian influenza, which has infected 291 household flocks and killed 37.5 million birds, should be a top priority when Congress approves the USDA 's fiscal year 2023 budget, several U.S. senators said in an open letter. Avian influenza continues to spread throughout the country and put pressure on the poultry meat market.

The American market is now experiencing double-digit inflation in prices for all types of meat. At the same time, the increase in prices for chicken in April was the highest among other types of meat. Prices rose, on average, by 3% compared to the previous month, as well as by 15.3% compared to last year's level.
