Average broiler prices in the US market as of April 16, 2021 showed an upward trend. The average cost of broilers in March 2021 was 86.68 cents/lb (+4.5% mom), with total sales of around 39,587 thousand pounds (+2.1% mom).

In regional markets, prices for poultry in all categories also rose, with the highest increase in the price tag for birds weighing 2.5 pounds or less (+1.15 cents).

Winter storms in the central US have had significant impacts on poultry production. In the poultry sector, hatcheries, chicken farms and processing plants were affected. As a result, broiler production decreased. In this regard, the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has reduced its forecasts for chicken production. Broiler MEAT production in the first half of this year will be 45 thousand tons less than in the same period in 2020.
