
Mexico, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Iraq, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Georgia, Haiti, Qatar, Nicaragua, Peru, El Salvador, Congo (Kinshasa), Honduras and Mozambique recorded huge year-on-year increases in US broiler imports.
Broiler exports for the first ten months of 2023 were 3,038,888 metric tons, down 3.9 percent from the same period last year, and export value was $3.968 billion, down 10.3 percent. Of the total shipments, 55.3 percent or 1,679,946 tons were sent to the six largest markets, including Mexico, China , Taiwan, Cuba, the Philippines and Canada.
Shipments to Mexico in January-October 2023 totaled 598,445 tons, up 10.7 percent from the same period a year earlier. During the same period, Brazil's chicken exports to Mexico reached 154,641 metric tons, up 21.0 percent from last year, while Chile's chicken exports to Mexico reached 22,644 metric tons, down 6.5 percent. .
Exports to China fell 29.9 percent to 372,326 tons (of which 68.2 percent, or 253,833 metric tons, were chicken feet), while shipments to Taiwan increased 10.7 percent to 227,574 tons. Exports to other important markets: Cuba – 217,016 tons, down 2.9 percent; Philippines - 144,133 tons, down 11.6 percent; Canada – 120,451 tons, down 8.2 percent; Guatemala – 118,648 tons, up 8.4 percent; Vietnam – 94,516 tons, down 8.5 percent; Angola – 86,772 tons, down 35.2 percent; Congo (Brazzaville) - 70,154 tons, an increase of 1.5 percent.
Cumulative turkey exports for January-October this year reached 180,456 metric tons, up 14.7 percent from the same period a year earlier, with an export value of US $515.0 million , down 4.3 percent. Of the total exports, 79.5 percent or 143,414 metric tons went to the six largest markets including Mexico, Canada, Peru, Jamaica, Panama and Guatemala, with Mexico alone accounting for 67.9 percent or 122,614 metric tons.
Total exports of eggs (table eggs plus egg products in egg equivalent) from January to October of this year increased by 10.0%, amounting to 148.8 million pieces. The value of these exports increased by 20.5 percent to US$247.3 million. Of the total shipments, 87.6 percent or 66.0 million dozen were shipped to the six largest export markets, namely Canada, Mexico, Hong Kong, the Bahamas, the Netherlands Antilles and the United Kingdom.
