Demand for barbecue products has doubled

Purchases of goods for cooking barbecue and preparing for picnics in the first two weeks of April increased by 2.2 times compared to the same period last year, market participants told RG.

Demand for kebabs increased by 1.6 times in the first half of April in annual terms. At the same time, the average check decreased by 7% due to a wider range, Ozon analysts calculated. The retail network "Magnit" also noted a decrease in the average price of the grill assortment, taking into account the increased supply on the Russian MEAT market.

According to Rosstat, for the year, boneless pork fell in price from 407.38 rubles. up to 390.93 rubles. per kilogram. However, the price of beef rose from 623.08 to 663.5 rubles. per kg, as well as a turkey - from 438.55 to 446.98 rubles. per kg.

Traditionally, pork shish kebab, marinated poultry meat, as well as sausages and kupaty from different types of meat are in the greatest demand, Magnit notes. On Ozon, 50% of all user purchases are pork. In second place in popularity is turkey (31%), and in third place is chicken (10%). A year earlier, pork accounted for 44% of purchases, turkey for 42%, and the third most popular meat was duck (9%).
