This confirms the trend observed in recent years, with chicken meat becoming one of the most preferred sources of animal protein in the region.

The main driver of the growth of chicken meat consumption in the EU is demographic growth. The increasing population, as well as the influx of migrants, in particular 6 million Ukrainian refugees, are expected to have a significant impact on demand. Migration from the southern hemisphere also contributes to the increase in consumption, as many of the new residents prefer chicken meat, which is more affordable compared to other types of meat.

Chicken meat is generally less susceptible to fluctuations in food prices and inflation, making it an attractive choice for consumers, especially in times of economic instability. While many low-income families are cutting back on animal protein by switching to cheaper carbohydrate-rich foods such as bread and pasta, chicken remains an affordable alternative.
