The first 30 Duroc boars have been delivered from Voronezh to the Sibagro pig farm in Belgorod, where sanitation is underway, the company said. The animals are currently in quarantine. Soon another 170 boars from the group's Tyumen pig farm will be delivered to the site. In August, the importation of the main livestock - sows and replacement pigs - will begin. Commercial production is scheduled to resume in the second half of 2023.

The DIRECTOR of the enterprise, Leonid Martynov, notes that the importation of animals is another and very important stage in the rehabilitation of the complex. “The artificial insemination station has completely completed the repair, reconstruction and modernization of premises and equipment, completed washing and disinfection. Now we are fully ready to work with a new high-pedigree livestock that meets the standards of the Sibagro company, ”he said (quoted from the group’s press release).

Sibagro bought assets in the Belgorod region in April 2021 from Promagro agricultural holding. The perimeter of the transaction included three pig farms with a capacity of 64.5 thousand tons of pork in live weight per year, a MEAT processing plant with a capacity of 113 thousand tons per year, feed production (200 thousand tons per year) and 42 thousand hectares of agricultural land.

In October 2021, the Belgorod pig farm went for refurbishment, as the production needed updating. Sibagro completely freed the buildings from animals and began a major overhaul of the buildings. “If we talk about buildings and structures, we initially did an analysis and knew where we were going,” said Andrey Tyutyushev, Chairman of the Board of Sibagro. - The only thing, based on the epizootic situation, we were not particularly allowed to livestock. We were allowed to do some tests, but it was not enough to fully understand how things are in terms of veterinary medicine. Initially, we thought that we would fix the situation with weight gain and preservation fairly quickly, but it turned out that this could be done within about a year and a half. Therefore, we came to the conclusion that a complete reorganization would be more effective, especially since the purchased enterprises worked on a different breed, veterinary and sanitary problems have accumulated there. In addition, major repairs are always easier when there are no animals.”

Sibagro (formerly Siberian Agrarian Group) is a vertically integrated agro-industrial holding founded in Tomsk in 2000. Unites 14 livestock and meat processing enterprises in the Urals, Siberian, Central and Far Eastern Federal Districts. At the end of last year, the company became the second in the country in terms of pork production, according to the rating of the National Union of Pig Breeders.
