
SFA Delegation Visit: Key Points
The SFA delegation's visit, conducted in preparation for EXPORT, marked a significant milestone in the development of the Sri Lankan poultry industry. The first inspection took place in March 2024 and covered New Anthonys Farm, Nelna Farm, and Ceylon Grain Elevators. During the second visit in July 2025, the delegation inspected Pussella Farm, Jaya Farm, and Bairaha Farms PLC, and also conducted an audit of the Department of Animal Production and HEALTH (DAPH), which is responsible for product quality and safety.
During the negotiations, the Sri Lankan side emphasized the country's competitive advantages. Sri Lanka boasts high product quality, disease-free status, a favorable geographic location, and attractive pricing terms for exporters. in 2024 , reaching US $5.4 million . The main export destinations were the Maldives, Qatar, Vietnam , Hong Kong, and Japan . This demonstrates growing interest in Sri Lankan products internationally and confirms their competitiveness. Negotiations with China: A Look to the Future. In parallel with preparations for entering the Singapore market, Sri Lankan authorities are negotiating the possibility of exporting poultry to CHINA .
