The leader of the Just RUSSIA - For Truth party and faction in the State Duma, Sergei Mironov, believes that it is necessary to reduce trade margins and taxes on basic food products, and not reduce the weight and size of packages of their manufacturers, his press service reports.
Earlier, the media wrote that Russian manufacturers began to reduce the size and weight of the goods in order to maintain its value. However, reductions in the weight and size of food producers' packages cannot mask rising prices, Mironov notes.
"Instead of putting people on reduced rations, it is necessary to limit the appetites of retail chains and reduce the trade margin, as well as zero taxes on basic food products," the deputy believes.
One of the measures, in his opinion, should be "reducing to 5% or even zeroing the value-added tax on basic foodstuffs." At the same time, it is necessary to increase the real incomes of the population in order to stimulate demand, and reduce the dependence of food producers on imports, including through the strengthening of the ruble, Mironov believes.
Manufacturers optimize packaging size
"Instead of reducing consumption among citizens, it's time to limit the appetites of retailers and exporters. And the policy of "cutting rations" will not lead to anything good," he said.
