Agricultural production in RUSSIA in January-August 2021 decreased by 3.4% compared to the same period last year, and in August it decreased by 10.1%, the Rosstat report says.

In July this year, the indicator increased by 0.9%.

The volume of agricultural production in August - according to Rosstat, "due to the later start of harvesting compared to the previous year" - in current prices, according to preliminary estimates, amounted to 787.8 billion rubles, in January-August - 3.404 trillion rubles.

In 2020, agricultural production in the Russian Federation increased by 1.5% compared to the previous year.

At the end of August, the number of cattle in all types of farms in the Russian Federation amounted to 18.8 million heads, having decreased by 1.4% compared to the same date last year, of which 7.9 million heads were cows (by 1.6% smaller). The number of pigs increased by 2% to 27.5 million, sheep and goats decreased by 5% to 23 million.

Households accounted for 40.2% of cattle, 9.2% of pigs, 46.1% of sheep and goats (at the end of August 2020 - 40.8%, 10.1% and 45.4%, respectively). The production of livestock and poultry for slaughter in January-August in farms of all categories decreased by 0.3% in annual terms - to 9.5 million tons (in live weight), in August - increased by 0.4%, to 1.2 million tons.

In 2021, Russia increased agricultural exports to the EU by 32% 

MILK production for eight months of 2021 in annual terms did not change and amounted to 22.1 million tons, in August it decreased by 0.7%, to 3.1 million tons. Egg production in January-August decreased by 0.3% compared to last year and amounted to 30.4 billion eggs, in August it increased by 1.7%, to 4 billion eggs.
