The Ostrovnaya poultry farm asked for help from the Sakhalin deputies so that they would not have to raise prices for consumers. Otherwise, the poultry industry may raise prices for eggs by 20% and for chicken MEAT by 10% already at the beginning of summer. Learn what it takes to make sure this doesn't happen.

The forecast was made on May 25 at a meeting of the Duma working group on assistance in the development of the agro-industrial complex. Sergei Dobrel, General DIRECTOR of Ostrovnaya Poultry Farm, addressed the deputies and representatives of a number of regional ministries.

He said shipping day-old chicks from the mainland had more than halved in price. Additional investments are required to maintain broiler production. Feed prices went up by no less than a quarter. Poultry farmers in the current situation need to find about 120 million rubles more.

Discussing the current situation, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture Andrey Rechkin agreed that the island's poultry industry needs to develop its herd, and at least for a five-year period. Finance Minister Olga Lopatina added that agriculture is a priority for the regional government. If the poultry farm comes up with its investment program, the Ministry of Finance will definitely support it.

Vitaly Gomilevsky, Vice Speaker of the Regional Duma, in turn, emphasized that Ostrovnaya is the only poultry enterprise in the region that not only provides Sakhalin residents with eggs and poultry meat, but also annually helps them by transferring chickens for rearing in the backyard and on farms.
