Saudi Arabia invests $4.5 billion to boost poultry production

According to an article in Arabian Business, Saudi Minister of Agriculture Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadli announced a new plan to increase self-sufficiency by increasing poultry MEAT production to 80% by 2025.

The aim of the funding is to increase production capacity to 1.3 million tons of broiler meat per year, the article says.

The Saudi Minister of Agriculture said that companies wishing to expand would receive a 70% return on investment costs where cutting-edge technology is used.

Currently, Saudi Arabia is 68% self-sufficient in poultry meat. This is 45% more than in 2016.
