Rosstat: agricultural products in the Russian Federation "celebrated" the new year with a noticeable increase in prices

Fruit and vegetable products, which last year largely "contributed" to the increase in inflation, started the new year with a noticeable increase in prices, unlike other products.

According to Rosstat on Wednesday, from January 1 to January 10, it has risen in price by an average of 3.1%. Above this indicator were the growth rates of prices for cucumbers - by 7.4%, tomatoes - by 6.7%, cabbage - by 6%, bananas - by 3.8%, carrots - by 3.6%.

Potatoes and onions rose in price by 1.6%, beets - by 1.4%, apples - by 0.8%.

Rosstat clarified that in 49 regions, prices for cucumbers increased by 1-7%, in 20 - by 7.1-12%, in 11 - by 12.1-20.8%. In four constituent entities, prices decreased by 0.3-3%. Tomato prices increased by 0.1-8% in 43 regions, by 8.1-12% in 24 regions, and by 12.1-29.8% in 10 regions. In seven regions, prices decreased by 0.1-5.1%. Cabbage in 50 regions rose in price by 0.3-7%, in 24 - by 7.1-11%, in 10 - by 11.1-17.6%. In the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, prices for these vegetables have not changed.

Rosstat also reported that prices for buckwheat in the first ten days of January rose by 0.8%, for granulated sugar - by 0.7%, for sunflower oil - by 0.2%, for eggs - by 0.1%.

At the same time, the price of chicken fell by 0.1%, canned meat for baby food - by 0.3%, pork and fruit and berry canned food for baby food - by 0.1%.

As reported, food inflation in 2021 was 10.6%.
