Russia sets new meat consumption record in 2025

According to Nielsen, sales of meat and meat products increased by 4.5% in volume terms and 10.5% in value terms in the first nine months of 2025. The largest growth was observed in the chicken fillet (+17.4%), sliced sausages (+9.5%), and offal (+7%) segments. Experts predict that positive momentum in the fourth quarter will lead to a new record.

While 20 years ago, average meat consumption in Russia was 45 kg per person, in 2023 this figure rose to 80.8 kg and continues to grow. The market, which once relied on broilers, is now diversifying into duck and lamb. According to the FAO, Russians consume twice as much meat as the global average (44.5 kg).
