In August 2014, RUSSIA decided to ban the import of certain types of agricultural products, raw materials and food from states that have adopted sanctions against Russia, including the United States, EU countries, CANADA, Australia and Norway. MEAT , sausages ,fish and seafood, vegetables, fruits , dairy products . As sanctions continued, Russia extended these measures. In October 2023, the embargo was extended until 2024 , with the exclusion of whey for infant formula.

At the end of 2013, exports of agricultural goods from Russia amounted to 16.2 billion dollars, at the end of 2014 - 19 billion. In 2015 there was a decrease to 16.2 billion, but after that EXPORT volumes only increased.

In 2023, as reported in February by then First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Russia and now Minister Oksana Lut, exports of agricultural goods from Russia amounted to at least $43.5 billion.

At the same time, in the country’s GDP for 2023, which, according to Rosstat, amounted to 172.148 trillion rubles ($2.031 trillion at the average annual rate), the share attributable to food supplies to other countries exceeded 2% for the first time. it amounted to 2.14%, which is three times more than in 2013.

Russia traded the most food in 2023: cereals - they accounted for 65.8% of agricultural exports, animal feed - 12.4%, and fats and oils - 8.1%. However, in all previous years, the top three main products were cereals, seafood and fats and oils.
