Russian manufacturers occupy 43% of the veterinary drug market

At the end of 2022, the capacity of the Russian market of veterinary drugs amounted to about 64 billion rubles. Of these, at least 43% are accounted for by domestic producers, said Vladimir Kuzin.

In addition, veterinary drugs from 500 foreign companies from Europe, the usa , CHINA and Central Asia are present on the market.

At the same time, 55% of the total market volume is occupied by chemical and pharmaceutical preparations, and 45% - by immunobiological (vaccines).

The dependence of the Russian market of veterinary drugs on imports is most pronounced in such segments as the production of hormones and antiparasitic drugs. And it is in these areas that you can see growth points for domestic companies, the expert notes.

Least of all, import dependence is observed in the production of antibacterial agents, estimates Vladimir Kuzin.

Russian companies are quite successfully increasing production volumes and are also engaged in exporting products. In the future, the volume of exports of veterinary drugs by 2030 may reach 30 billion rubles, the expert noted.

He noted that, in general, the production of veterinary drugs is developing without special measures of support from the state. “Last year, the support consisted in the fact that the registration and putting into circulation of some drugs was simplified,” said Vladimir Kuzin.
