Rosselkhoznadzor has developed the first vaccine against bovine mastitis in Russia

Ten new domestic vaccines that livestock breeders and owners of cats and dogs need will be registered in 2023, ROSSELKHOZNADZOR reports. Some vaccines previously had no analogues in RUSSIA, the report says.

Rosselkhoznadzor scientists spoke about vaccines that they plan to register in 2023. Of particular interest is the vaccine against mastitis in cattle "MastitVak - EVA". The scientists explained that the vaccine was made on the basis of strains of the disease that were collected from the country's livestock enterprises, ideally suited to combat the typical Russian variations of the disease, while there were no analogues of such a vaccine in the country before.

Scientists have also developed two vaccines for birds, the report said. One is designed to fight Newcastle disease, the second is a "multi" vaccine that protects against both Newcastle disease and H9 avian influenza. A vaccine against porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS) is under development, as well as a vaccine to prevent certain salmon diseases, in which the country's fish farms are interested.

The Rosselkhoznadzor explained that they are paying special attention to developments that should ensure the biological safety of the country's livestock enterprises. However, the department does not forget about pets either - vaccines for dogs and cats are being developed, which will replace imported analogues that have left the Russian market.
