By the end of 2023, there were 106 thousand cows and 61 thousand pigs in the region, with the pig population increasing by 3% and 17%, respectively, more than at the end of December 2023. This may indicate an increased interest in pig farming due to the growing demand for pork in both domestic and foreign markets.
Among the impressive results of the region, poultry production stands out , amounting to almost 86 tons - this is twice as much as the volumes of beef and pork, emphasizing the importance of poultry farming for the agricultural sector. Also in 2024 , a record MILK production was recorded - 552 thousand tons, which brought the Kaluga Region into the top five leaders of the Central Federal District.
The above achievements create new opportunities for local farmers and agribusinesses, including expansion of EXPORT supplies and introduction of modern technologies in agriculture . The regional government actively supports farmers, offering various subsidies and programs for modernization of production.
