At the end of 2020, RUSSIA rose to 17th place in the ranking of world exporters of agricultural products, which is two steps higher than in 2019, Dmitry Krasnov, HEAD of the Agroexport center, said at the international symposium "Foresight and scientific, technical and innovation policy" on Tuesday .
At the same time, he noted that this is a preliminary assessment.
The top three in this ranking are the United States ($149.4 billion), the Netherlands ($110.3 billion) and Germany ($85.5 billion).
Krasnov recalled that in 2020 the Russian Federation exported agricultural products worth $30.7 billion, which is 20% more than a year earlier. "Exports of oil and fat products grew by 22%, to almost $5 billion, grain - by 29%, to $10.3 billion, MEAT and dairy products - by 37%, to $1.2 billion, food and processing industry products - by 13% , to $4.5 billion," he said, noting that fish exports have declined, the main reason being the closure of restaurants due to the pandemic.
The head of the center specified that exports have grown to all major importing countries. "Including to CHINA and Turkey - by 26%, to the EU - by 13%, to Kazakhstan - by 12%, to Egypt - by 33%," he said. "The growth in wheat exports was ensured by increasing supplies to Egypt , Turkey, Pakistan and Sudan, sunflower oil - to China, India and Turkey, pork - to Vietnam and Hong Kong, poultry meat - to China."
Asia, the Middle East and Africa remain the priority markets for Russian agricultural exports
According to Krasnov, in the conditions of the post-pandemic world, it is necessary to look for new niches and markets, to ensure that Russian products meet the requirements of foreign consumers.
