In March, 40.1 thousand tons of poultry and cattle were procured for slaughter, which is 9.7% more than last year, indicating a growing demand for meat products and successful efforts of local farms. Milk production also increased by 3.9%, amounting to 20.5 thousand tons, which indicates positive changes in dairy cattle breeding.
As of the end of March 2025, the total number of cattle reached 58.1 thousand heads, of which 29.7 thousand were cows. At the same time, the number of pigs amounted to 1 million 656.7 thousand, and poultry - 1 million 637.2 thousand. Despite some reductions in the number of livestock, the Pskov Region demonstrates positive results in meat and milk production, which emphasizes the sustainability of the region's agriculture and its adaptation to changing conditions. Support for local producers and the development of agricultural infrastructure can contribute to further growth and increased food security.
