The key product group in the EXPORT segment of the Voronezh region today is fat and oil products and products of the food and processing industry. The symbol of the Voronezh agro-industrial complex is not only wheat, MILK and marbled beef , but also the most common “product” - sunflower.
In terms of the volume of available production capacity for processing oilseeds, the region ranks first in the Central Federal District and second in the Russian Federation.
Annual sunflower production in the Voronezh region averages about 1.2 million tons, while the existing production capacity for processing oilseeds is designed for 2.85 million tons. Therefore, almost all sunflower grown in the region is processed.
The solidary policy of the leadership of the Voronezh region, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and ROSSELKHOZNADZOR to enter the priority markets for agricultural exports in the Middle East, North Africa and Southeast Asia allowed the territorial administration of Rosselkhoznadzor, together with scientists and specialists of the All-Russian Plant Quarantine Center subordinate to the Service (FSBI "VNIIKR" ) implement effective measures to control the detection and fight against dangerous harmful objects, including those included in the list of phytosanitary requirements of importing countries.
Only the opening of the Chinese market increased sales of sunflower processed products by 3 times in 2023. Vegetable oils account for 25% of the total volume of exports that have undergone phytosanitary examination. During this period, the Voronezh branch of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "VNIIKR" issued about 4.5 thousand conclusions for sunflower and rapeseed oil with a total volume of more than 160 thousand tons.
In addition, last year, SUGAR factories in the region began supplying beet pulp to CHINA. In order to comply with the phytosanitary requirements of the Chinese side, employees of the Federal State Budgetary Institution "VNIIKR" examined more than 61.5 thousand tons of these products.
The pace of development of the agricultural industry not only in the Voronezh region, but throughout the country has become the basis for the launch of dozens of scientific studies carried out by scientists from the Federal State Budgetary Institution "VNIIKR" together with leading scientific centers of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which are aimed at protecting agricultural crops and improving their consumer qualities.
