The emergency regime introduced in several municipalities of the Sverdlovsk region due to the spread of African swine fever (ASF) has been lifted. The corresponding order of the Governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev was published on Wednesday on the official Internet portal of legal information.
Earlier, TASS reported that the state of emergency was introduced on the territory of the Kamyshlovskiy municipal district, Kamyshlovskiy urban district, Bogdanovich, Sukhoi Log and Pyshminsky urban district from October 5, and in the Irbit municipality, Gornouralsk urban district and Nizhny Tagil from October 15. The first outbreak of ASF in the Sverdlovsk region was recorded in September 2021 on a farm in the village of Kalinovskoe, Kamyshlov district. According to preliminary data, food waste is the cause of African swine fever.
"In connection with the elimination of foci of African swine fever in the territory of the Sverdlovsk region and the abolition of restrictive measures (quarantine) for African swine fever: cancel the emergency regime for local authorities and the forces of the Sverdlovsk regional subsystem of the unified state system for the prevention and elimination of emergencies," the statement says. in the document.
African swine fever is an infectious disease with an incubation period of up to two weeks, its carriers are animals. The virus enters the body through food, wounds on the skin, mucous membranes, insect bites. Cases of human infection have not been registered, but scientists do not exclude such a risk.
