Poultry farmers of the Russian Federation heard a "wake-up call" in the supply of poultry meat from China

"Since the end of last year, such an unexpected factor: our imports of poultry MEAT from CHINA began to grow . In November and December last year, 3 thousand tons were received. Already in January-February of this year - more than 1 thousand tons. Such an alarming bell, over we need to think about this,” said Sergey Lakhtyukhov, DIRECTOR general of the National Union of Poultry Breeders, at the conference “Agroinvestor: PRO Livestock and Feed” on Friday in Moscow.

According to him, last year the poultry industry of the Russian Federation increased the EXPORT of products abroad by 16%, and it is due to export earnings that investments come into the industry. "There is not much increase in (target - IF) investments, the figures are approximately at the level of the last three years. Today, the main investments in the industry come from exports, due to the fact that enterprises can receive soft loans already under the 512th government decree (provides state support for exports - IF), - said Lakhtyukhov, - And those companies that are actively developing exports are actively investing in the industry."

According to the presentation, the share of the Russian Federation in global poultry meat exports in 2022 was 2.4%, in 2010 it was only 0.13%.

At the same time, the HEAD of the union said that poultry farming was actually the first meat industry in the Russian Federation, which brought production to the level of self-sufficiency, which eliminated the need for imports.

Dependence on imports remains mainly for hatching eggs, but it is gradually decreasing. In 2022, compared to 2019, when 740 million of these eggs were imported, imports decreased by 45%. This year, deliveries will be even smaller, since several second-order loudspeakers have already been launched since the beginning of the year, and several more such facilities are planned to be commissioned by the end of the year, he said.

As for exports, as Lakhtyukhov said, he is optimistic about its prospects. "We have companies that are not just implementing new mechanisms, they are laying new logistics routes," he said.

According to the presentation, in 2022, the production of poultry meat in the Russian Federation in farms of all categories exceeded 7 million tons (for slaughter in live weight).
