In July, production decreased by 0.4% year-on-year to 3.186 billion eggs.
Over the seven months, agricultural organizations sold 19.28 billion eggs, which is 3.2% less than a year ago; in July, they sold 2.777 billion eggs (0.6% less).
At the end of 2023, eggs became more expensive. Because of this, the import duty on them was zeroed out in the first half of 2024. The measures taken allowed to reduce egg prices by 19% from the beginning of the year to August 12.
Poultry production increased by 1.1% over the seven months, to 3.833 million tons (for slaughter, live weight). In July, production increased by 5.7%, to 551.7 thousand tons.
In January-July, agricultural organizations sold 3.795 million tons of poultry, which is 0.5% more than last year, in July - 547.7 thousand tons (4.9% more).
To curb the rise in chicken prices, which was also observed at the end of 2023, the government introduced a quota for 2024 to import 140 thousand tons of poultry MEAT to RUSSIA without paying customs duties. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, only 27.5 thousand tons have been selected from it so far.
According to Rosstat, from the beginning of the year to August 12, chicken prices have decreased by 3.1%.
The poultry population at the end of July increased by 4.7%, to 479.8 million heads.
