Agricultural production on Sakhalin increased by 6.4%

By the beginning of June of this year, agricultural production in general in the Sakhalin Region increased by 6.4% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 2.2 billion rubles, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation reported.

Thanks to state support measures, as well as measures aimed at increasing labor productivity and introducing lean technologies at enterprises, the regional agro-industrial complex is demonstrating a convincing growth in production.

According to the results of January-May 2021, in farms of all categories, the production of livestock and poultry MEAT for slaughter (in live weight) increased by 9.9%, MILK - by 5.6%.

The main volume of production of livestock and poultry for slaughter (in live weight) and milk falls on agricultural organizations, which show an increase in production compared to the same date in 2020 by 10.6% and 6.5%, respectively.

Along with production, sales are also growing, which increased by 13.3% for meat and 8.6% for milk. In agricultural organizations, the volume of sold potatoes increased by 5.7%, and vegetables - by 1.1%.

The number of cattle in all categories of farms amounted to 29.7 thousand heads and increased by 7.4% compared to the beginning of June 2020, including cows increased by 3.7%, namely 12.1 thousand heads .

More recently, the provision of the region with meat and milk was three times lower, and protected ground vegetables from Sakhalin producers were not available on store shelves in the winter. Today, these products are available to local residents all year round.
