Kostroma farmer decided to combine strawberry production with animal husbandry

Before starting the "strawberry" business , the HEAD of the peasant (farm) economy, Bandurin Roman Andreevich from the Buysky district, was engaged in breeding cattle for MEAT productivity, as well as growing vegetables in open ground. In order to further develop his own farm, the young farmer decided to create a family farm for growing garden strawberries in closed ground.

To implement the summer berry growing project, Roman Andreevich received state support in 2023 in the form of a grant for the development of a family farm in the amount of 13.9 million rubles.

The investment project, with a total cost of 23.2 million rubles, involves the construction of 14 tunnel-type greenhouses by the grantee. Already at the moment, 7 "warm gardens" have been installed on the farm. Completion of works on the construction of non-capital structures is scheduled for November 2023.

In greenhouse conditions, Roman Andreevich plans to grow early-ripening remontant strawberries of the Albion variety, which is well adapted to the conditions of our region. This variety was bred at the beginning of the XXI century in order to grow berries on an industrial scale. The plant is considered vigorous, the average berry weight is 40-60 grams, and the yield can reach up to 1.5 kg from one bush. The berry has a sweet taste with sourness and has a rich, strawberry aroma.

The farmer plans to get the first full-fledged strawberry crop in 2024. About 44 tons of fragrant berries will go on the shelves of the region and will compete with imported berries.
