The Turkish government has set a quota for fattening cattle for 2024

This number may be increased throughout the year by decision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Turkish MILK and MEAT Board (ESK) depending on market conditions. Although the change is sudden, it appears to reflect the Turkish government's desire to shift imports to cheaper sources. As a result of this change, Turkish livestock farmers will not be able to select animals themselves, as ESK will select and distribute animals to farms after quarantine testing.
