Within the framework of the regional project “Yakutia. 20 years in the 21st century” the government of the Republic of Sakha will allocate more than 4 billion rubles for the development of cattle breeding.
According to state statistics, at the moment there are more than 300 agricultural organizations, 2,000 farms, 70,000 private farms in the regional agro-industrial complex. More than 70% of agricultural production comes from animal husbandry.
The traditional farm animal, the Yakut cow, easily tolerates low winter temperatures (down to –50°C) and produces MILK rich in protein with a fat content of up to 11%. To preserve the gene pool, a breeding farm "Yakutsky cattle" was created with representative offices in seven uluses of the Republic of Sakha.
Now the farms of Yakutia contain 2000 heads of cattle of the local breed. For nine years, 84 livestock complexes for 12 thousand heads have been built. In 2021, 4 billion rubles will be allocated to support this sector of the agro-industrial complex, which is twice as much as last year.
