Poland reported first case of ASF in domestic pigs in 2022

The outbreak, which affected almost 2,000 pigs, occurred in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, the largest pig-producing region in the country.

Polish HEALTH authorities have confirmed the first case of African swine fever in domestic pigs for the first time this year. The virus was detected on a farm with 1994 pigs (175 sows and gilts, 1249 piglets and 570 fattening pigs) located in Boguszyn, Greater Poland Voivodeship.

Poland reported 124 ASF outbreaks in domestic pigs last year.

In terms of cases in wild boar, Poland has confirmed 1,071 cases this year.
