At the end of October, there were 4.9 million heads of poultry in agricultural organizations in Bashkiria. A year earlier, the figure was 8.7 million heads.
At the same time, the number of other species of farm animals remained at approximately the same level or decreased slightly. Thus, the number of cattle decreased by 2.3%, cows - by 2.6%, pigs - by 2.4%, horses - by 3.3%. The number of sheep and goats increased by 11% over the year, reaching 18.6 thousand heads.
An outbreak of bird flu at the Bashkirskaya poultry farm in early August led to serious consequences for poultry farming in Bashkiria, the publication notes. The company recalled products shipped to contractors starting July 30 and stopped sales for six months. Products and livestock were destroyed.
According to Bashstat, in January-September, egg production in farms of all categories in Bashkiria decreased by 12.7% compared to the same period last year - to 766.9 million pieces. The poultry population as of October 1 amounted to 10 million heads, having decreased by 26.1% compared to last year.
