The number of quails in the Moscow region exceeded 263 thousand

“Over the 11 months of this year, agricultural organizations in the Moscow region sold 15.8 thousand heads of young animals and chickens, as well as 214 thousand hatching eggs, for breeding purposes. Over 31 million quail eggs have already been produced, which is 1 million more than in 2022. The quail population is more than 263 thousand heads. In the Moscow region, the largest breeding enterprises for the production of quail eggs were: 'Shepilovskaya Poultry Farm' and 'Gene Pool',” said Vladislav Murashov,Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region.

The Shepilovskaya poultry farm , located in the urban district of Serpukhov, accounts for 97% of the regional production of quail eggs, and is also a first-order reproducer of the Japanese quail breed.

In addition to breeding hatching and commercial eggs , the Shepilovskaya Poultry Farm produces quail MEAT , semi-finished products, stewed meat, as well as pickled and smoked eggs, which are very popular and in demand.

“Gene pool”, as the name suggests, is a gene pool farm where Estonian, Japanese and Radonezh quail breeds are bred. There are also collectible flocks of different breeds of chickens, guinea fowl and quails. The enterprise is located in the Sergiev Posad urban district.

Currently, the company's collection includes 70 different breeds of chickens. All poultry are housed in poultry houses of the EPH Institute for group housing. The gene pool collection is used to create competitive, highly productive poultry crosses.
