The results of the grading of cattle were summed up in the Moscow region, about 72.6 thousand heads of cattle were evaluated. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region Sergey Voskresensky
“As part of a comprehensive assessment of farm animals by origin, exterior, productivity, reproductive ability and quality of offspring, 72.6 thousand heads of cows were evaluated. This is 88% of the livestock kept in the agricultural organizations of the region. This is an important procedure that allows you to evaluate each animal in order to establish its breeding value,” said Sergei Voskresensky.
Valuation of farm animals was carried out in the breeding and commodity organizations of the Moscow region. The region mainly contains cattle of the Holstein, Black-and-White, Kholmogory and Ayrshire breeds, which account for 99.2% of the livestock. Cattle of the Jersey, Kostroma, Kholmogory, Yaroslavl and Montbéliarde breeds are also bred.
“According to the results of the assessment for the last year, the average productivity per cow was 8055 kg of MILK, which is 345 kg more than in 2019, with a fat content of 4.11% and protein of 3.37%. The Holstein breed remains the leader in terms of milk productivity, for which 8607 kg of milk was obtained per cow with a fat content of 4.1% and a protein content of 3.36%,” Sergei Voskresensky noted.
The Minister added that the low coverage of cattle grading was noted in the urban districts of Istra and Chekhov, in which less than 40% of livestock were rated.
