Russian pork suppliers really hope that China will open its market for this meat for them, Veronika Nikishina, head of the Russian Export Center, said in an interview with RIA Novosti on the eve of SPIEF-2021.

“What we would definitely like to supply there is pork. After the outbreak of swine fever in China in 2018, almost the entire livestock was eliminated, and pork consumption in the country is colossal, and import deliveries instantly increased,” Nikishina said.

She recalled that the Chinese pork market has been closed to Russia for many years - "this is a trade and political decision." "This issue is on the agenda of the presidents, this issue is on the agenda of all our bilateral commissions. We hope that the ban will still be lifted, because for Russian exporters this is a huge market and a huge opportunity," the head of the REC is sure.

"Last year, China partially opened the poultry meat market for Russian suppliers - we can supply individual parts of the carcass. We expect that the rest of the poultry products will also go. We have a large production, good quality, our products will definitely be successful," Nikishina said. .

She noted that exporters were waiting for the full opening of the market for beef supplies. “Here is a good example, as soon as the market was opened to us at the beginning of 2020, the supply of Russian beef to China increased 26 times. Of course, it must be said right away that the effect here is a very low supply base. But supplies are growing. beef to China amounted to more than $ 20 million. This is a niche that we have been waiting for. And our producers are happy to fill it. We are also fighting to open access for our sausages," she concluded.
