SPIEF-2021: Putin: Russia's economic growth rate in 2021 may reach about 4%

The Russian economy during the CORONAVIRUS pandemic has shown resistance to external shocks, it is expected that the country's GDP growth by the end of 2021 will be about 4%, Russian President Vladimir Putin said .
"The Russian economy, despite all the difficulties, has shown resilience to external shocks, in 2020 Russia's GDP declined less than the world economy, and by the end of this year we will already reach a growth rate of about 4%," the HEAD of state said on Friday at meeting with representatives of the international investment community and foreign companies producing the Sputnik V vaccine at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
According to Putin, "such results became possible thanks to the foundation that was created in previous years," as well as thanks to "the selfless work of many people in industry, agriculture and the social sphere, HEALTH care and science." "The work of medical workers, the efforts of our scientists who created a vaccine against coronavirus have received strong support from the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF)," the President stressed.

The head of state noted that "RDIF took an active part in organizing the production of fast and high-precision test systems for diagnosing coronavirus, as well as drugs for the treatment of this serious illness."
