
The day before, three carcasses of wild boars were discovered approximately seven kilometers from Sanchursk. Laboratory examination of the samples showed the presence of the ASF virus in the animal remains. A team of representatives from veterinary services went to the site, disinfected the area and burned the infected carcasses of wild boars, burying the ash residue. According to Yuri Tereshkov, they are now conducting explanatory conversations with the population and employees of local farms. The regional Ministry of Environmental Protection joined the preventive measures.
Deputy HEAD of the Veterinary Department of the Kirov Region Elena Ivanova clarified that the department is preparing documents about the epizootic outbreak. A threat zone has been established within a radius of 20 kilometers. it is planned to confiscate domestic pigs from private backyards and farms with subsequent payment of compensation for damage from the reserve fund. The wild boar population will be regulated in cooperation with veterinary services and hunting farms of the Mari El Republic. In the neighboring region, near the border with the Kirov region, another contaminated carcass was discovered.
