Due to the growing economy , the USDA forecasts chicken consumption in 2023 at 1.835 million tons, compared to 1.755 million tons in 2022 and 1.780 million tons in 2021.

Despite a modest increase in consumption expected, poultry integrators and commercial poultry farmers in the Philippines are wary of rolling out major expansion plans this year due to the threat of avian influenza and the high cost of feed ingredients. However, chicken MEAT production in 2023 is projected at 1.36 Mt (up from 1.3 Mt in 2022). it is also worth noting that chicken prices have been on the rise since August 2022, which is offset by the high cost of production for producers and puts a strain on their operations.

At the same time, egg production is expected to decline, but this is expected to encourage broiler producers to increase production as broiler meat is an alternative source of less expensive protein.
