Stavropol dairy farm uses a unique technology for growing newborn kids
The birth of kids is a crucial moment in the life of a goat and its owner. After lambing, both the goat and her kid need special care, recovery time and good nutrition. This is understood nowhere else at the Nadezhdinsky goat dairy complex, which has organized ideal conditions for growing future livestock.
So, at the Nadezhdinsky KMC in the Shpakovsky district, newborn kids are immediately taken away from their mother so that the goat does not have time to touch them and transmit diseases and infections to adults.
After weaning from the goat, the kids are moved to a separate “baby” unit, which is only for newborns from 0 to 3 days old. Access to this room is limited to everyone, except for specialists who have passed a sanitary checkpoint with mandatory dressing and changing shoes. Zootechnicians and veterinarians working in this department do not leave the premises until the end of the work shift, providing maximum conditions for the full development of newborns. To do this, a stable microclimate has been created and maintained in it, a special air ventilation system is in operation, and feeding takes place through automatic watering stations.
- In this room, kids spend their first 2 days, where they are fed with maternal colostrum that has undergone heat treatment. Each box for newborn kids has a replaceable bag and bedding, so that after transferring them to the “kindergarten”, it would be possible to quickly accommodate the next kids, - said Alexei Semenov, DIRECTOR of the Nadezhdinsky goat dairy complex.
On each box there is a goat card, which contains data about his mother, date and time of birth, weight and amount of fed colostrum to monitor the baby's condition.
On the 3rd day, the kids move to more spacious premises within the same building, where they grow and gain strength up to 60-70 days of age in order to further replenish the dairy herd of the goat farm.
- The dairy complex, which has been operating in the Shpakovsky district for only two years, implies the maintenance of 2,100 heads of dairy goats. Before the start of lambing, the livestock was increased to 1,500 goats, the rest are planned to be obtained through the lambing campaign-2021. After reaching full design capacity in 2022, the enterprise will reach 100% production, which is at least 2,000 tons of raw MILK, and, accordingly, 200 tons of cheese products per year, - said Alexei Krisan, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.
KMK "Nadezhdinsky" is a modern investment project, in which about 500 million rubles have been invested. The complex is one of the five largest farms in RUSSIA engaged in the production and processing of milk into all types of cheese and sour-milk products: pasteurized milk , kefir, fermented baked milk, yoghurts, curd cheeses, soft ricotta cheese, feta cheese, hard cheese "Edam", "Gouda" , ice cream.
The high quality of products, as well as the absence of any additives, is the principled position of the project investor and the enterprise, which, literally in two years of work, has taken a leading position in its field at the country level. In 2020, KMK produced about 850 tons of goat milk.
- In 2021, the company can use three types of subsidies and reimburse part of the costs for supporting its own milk production, for the production of agricultural products, as well as for supporting livestock breeding, - said the acting. Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory Vladimir Sitnikov.
