
Pigs
The Oryol region moved up one position among the regions of the Central Federal District of Russia, from 5th to 4th place in terms of the number of livestock. The volume of pork production last year amounted to 184.4 thousand tons in live weight (+33.5% year-on-year).
The share of pig production in the regional meat market in 2021–2022 increased from 57.5% to 68.4%, mainly due to the opening of new production facilities of Miratorg Kursk LLC. As of January 1, 2023, there were 1 million 126.3 thousand pigs in farms of all categories (+ 34.1%).
Cattle
A stable position in the TOP-3 in the Central Federal District: 46.3 thousand tons in live weight. At the same time, in 2021–2022, the share of cattle decreased from 26.6% to 17.2%. The number of cattle as of January 1, 2023 is 149.2 thousand (+6.5%), including 43.3 thousand cows (-1.5% year-on-year).
Bird
The final figure is 36.2 thousand tons in live weight. The share of poultry farming in the Oryol region decreased from 14.6% to 13.4% over the year. By the beginning of this year, the poultry population amounted to 2 million 592.2 thousand (+6.3%).
Small cattle (sheep and goats)
1.8 thousand tons in live weight. During the year, the herd of small ruminants in the Oryol region decreased by 11.2% - to 43.3 thousand heads.
The contribution of agricultural organizations to the total volume of meat production amounted to 95.1%. The share of peasant farms and rural entrepreneurs accounted for 4.45% and 0.5%, respectively.
