Okskoye will build a poultry farm in the Moscow region for 1 billion rubles

The Okskoe enterprise plans to build a large poultry farm in the urban district of Lukhovitsy in the second half of 2022, the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the region reported, citing the words of the HEAD of the department, Sergei Voskresensky. The total investment in the project will exceed 1 billion rubles. Preliminary it is assumed that the production volume will be more than 456.3 million eggs per year.

“One of the largest producers of chicken eggs, the Okskoye enterprise, considers the Moscow region as a priority region for further development,” Voskresensky said. - A land plot was selected for the construction of a poultry farm on the territory of the urban district of Lukhovitsy. Construction is scheduled to start in the second half of next year and be completed within 1.5 years.” The press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture and Food noted that the enterprise will have a high level of environmental and biological safety.

In May, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region reported that in the first quarter of 2021, the gross production of chicken eggs in the region amounted to more than 35 million pieces. Over the entire past year, 140 million units were produced, Voskresensky said at the time. The largest poultry enterprises for the production of eggs in the region are the Shepilovskaya Poultry Farm of the Serpukhov City District, the Sergiev Posad Poultry Farms Mayskie Prostory, Genofond and Smena, the Naro-Fominskaya Poultry Farm Elinar-Broiler, and Cobb- Russia" from the Bogorodsk urban district.

Agrifood Strategies President Albert Davleev noted that Okskoye is a very well-known brand with large production volumes. According to the expert, the construction of a new poultry farm will be an opportunity for the company to get closer to the main sales market - Moscow and the Moscow region. “However, building a business from scratch is a very long story. The return on investment in this industry can take a long time, much longer than, for example, in broiler production, Davleev said. - It should be borne in mind that the Moscow region is a zone, first of all, of summer cottages. Therefore, it is quite difficult to find land whose owner would not conflict with the local population and nearby buildings.”

According to Davleev, it would be more logical to invest in the creation of a production facility for deep processing of eggs, where there is more added value. “Of course, geographical location is one of the strategic issues for the company. But investing in deep egg processing is, in my opinion, more interesting. This is done, for example, by the Roscar company and a number of others,” says Davleev.

He also noted that the profitability in egg production is low and amounts to 3-5%, which makes the industry not very attractive for investors. “The good thing is that the Okskoye company has raw materials, experience, and expertise. This will allow you to take into account your mistakes and create a project that will be close to ideal. However, the project will not give high profitability, which at an accelerated pace will allow to return the invested investments, ”concluded Davleev.

In May, the Ministry of Agriculture reported that it had developed support mechanisms that would help maintain the financial stability of producers and stabilize prices for poultry MEAT and eggs. Thus, the maximum size of preferential short-term loans for poultry enterprises was increased from 1 billion to 1.5 billion rubles, and a decision was made to prolong preferential investment loans for up to 12 years to enterprises affected by highly pathogenic avian influenza.

JSC "Okskoe" was registered in April 1995 in the Ryazan region. The company's revenue in 2020 exceeded 5 billion rubles, net profit amounted to about 326 million rubles. The company is one of the ten largest egg producers in the country. The enterprise combines three poultry farms, a breeding poultry reproducer, an incubator, two agricultural enterprises for growing grain with a total area of 29 thousand hectares and a feed mill.
