Sergei Dankvert reported on the situation with bird flu and ASF at a meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin

Reporting on the current situation with the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in RUSSIA, Sergey Dankvert noted an increase in the number of foci of the disease among wild and synanthropic birds, mainly gulls.

First of all, the HEAD of the supervisory agency believes, attention should be paid to the accumulation of seagulls in garbage dumps. As practice shows, birds are attracted to those places that are not reclaimed quickly enough.

As for HSV cases in poultry, he said the situation remains under control. ROSSELKHOZNADZOR , its territorial departments and subordinate scientific centers are in constant contact with regional authorities and business for the operational development of each emerging epizootic focus.

Sergey Dankvert added that last year the Russian agro-industrial complex passed without serious losses, while in the US and the EU , due to the rapid spread of HSV, more than 100 million poultry were destroyed.

“In the European Union, 60 million poultry were destroyed last year due to avian influenza, in the United States - about the same. Even Japan destroyed 14 million heads. We went through last year without such serious losses, we had about a million heads destroyed,” Sergey Dankvert said.

Also, Russian farmers occasionally encounter African swine fever. However, in general, the epizootic situation is under control thanks to the information systems of the Service. With the help of FSIS "VetIS" animals and products are tracked "from the field to the counter." In a few hours, the Rosselkhoznadzor finds infected cargo and stops their movement, preventing the spread of diseases.

“Sergey Alekseevich, you said the key words: “we quickly find”. Indeed, it is necessary not to miss this, the speed of problem detection, and, of course, to respond quickly. So far it has been successful. I hope that there will be no failures here this year either,” said Russian President Vladimir Putin .
