New law allows livestock specialists in Russia to keep records of livestock in the Federal State Information System “VetIS” without veterinarians

This innovation will allow for more efficient and effective accounting of farm animals, which is necessary to ensure traceability of products and implement control "from field to counter". The law will also reduce the workload of veterinarians, since it is zootechnicians who most often deal with marking livestock on farms. Entering data into the FGIS is technical in nature and does not require special knowledge.

The registration of cattle and pigs in the Horriot component of the FGIS VetIS became mandatory from September 1, 2024 for all industrial enterprises and the private sector, and ROSSELKHOZNADZOR began to conduct checks for compliance with this requirement.
