A new slaughterhouse in Yamal will begin accepting deer in November.

The location was selected taking into account the migration routes of approximately 60 reindeer herding families in the Taz and Gydan tundra, who were previously unable to organize raw material supplies due to their remoteness from MEAT processing centers. This fall, they will have the opportunity to earn additional income . The equipment was purchased with the support of fuel and energy companies in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The facility will create 20 jobs and increase reindeer meat production by approximately 100 tons, to 1,200 tons, in the Tazovsky District.

The decision to develop a network of slaughterhouses was included in the roadmap for supporting indigenous peoples of the North, following last year's meeting between Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug Governor Dmitry Artyukhov and 17 tundra residents. By the end of 2024 , the district had harvested approximately 3,300 tons of reindeer meat, an all-time record. A significant factor was the increase in procurement prices to 500 rubles per kilogram for first-grade venison and to 250 rubles per kilogram for industrial processing.
